Your vivid descriptions of skiing and venturing beyond your comfort zone really resonated with me, Martha. There's something about getting out there and looking nature in the eye that makes me feel incredibly alive!Teresa Caldwellnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202288049668006882.post-66345772829061469822017-02-04T15:53:51.442-08:002017-02-04T15:53:51.442-08:00Flo, thanks for your thoughts about overcoming fea...Flo, thanks for your thoughts about overcoming fears. I once skied with someone who was an expert skier -- beautiful to watch. We went sailing in the SF Bay and her knees were knocking with fear the entire time. That seed of faith is so important, isn't it? And yes, reading about adventures is usually my level of wilderness lately, but I've decided I need to stretch myself as much as I can while I can! I've never ridden on a snowmobile -- that must be a wild ride too! marthaslavin.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10103331217021325363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202288049668006882.post-88061179860801461782017-02-04T06:37:52.492-08:002017-02-04T06:37:52.492-08:00The wild tempts me, although my version of wild mo...The wild tempts me, although my version of wild moderates with age. Some say I am brave to go camping alone, and at first I was. But competency tamed fear to a healthy level. I am always interested in stories about how people summon the courage to face their fears. When I was on my skies as a youngster, standing at the top of the hill, knees knocking, I decided I would instead do athletic endeavors where my feet wouldn't slip out from under me. But you made it down the hill, and then some! You describe it so vividly, I can be there without shivering. We all have to plant the seed of faith in ourselves to make it past fear, don't we? Sometimes the seed seems to come from thin air, sometimes from someone who has faith in us. We still have to take the seed and plant it in ourselves. I used to ski, but can't take the cold anymore. I used to snowmobile, too, in wild places so I can easily remember how mystical it is to be in such pristine places.Misadventures of Widowhoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17262709452281226620noreply@blogger.com
